Super Bowl 52 Preview

In four days (as of date published), 1.3 billion chicken wings will be eaten and the most viewed event in the United States will kick off. The 52nd Super Bowl will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will feature the New England Patriots representing the AFC and the Philadelphia Eagles who will be representing the NFC. The game will be a rematch of the 2005 Super Bowl.

After going to the AFC championship game for the seventh time in a row, the Patriots are back to the big game again. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the New England Patriots have been dominating the AFC for years, so it is no surprise when one of them is going to be playing on Super Bowl Sunday. The Patriots will be the 5 points favorites going into the game, seeking their sixth Vince Lombardi trophy with star quarterback Tom Brady. They hope to cap off the 2017-18 season with yet another championship win during the great Belichick and Brady dynasty of the 2000’s.

On the other side of the field will be the Philadelphia Eagles, who will be fighting for their first ever Super Bowl victory. The franchise has lost both of their two Super Bowl appearances and are hoping to get redemption after losing to the Patriots in 2005. The Eagles have exceeded expectations this season with the help of the now injured quarterback Carson Wentz. They tied the franchise record this year with 13 wins and 3 losses in the regular season, but have the betting lines against them once again.

The quarterback matchup is very different. On the Patriots’ side is Tom Brady, who has more Super Bowl rings already than most people could ever dream of getting. He has already been called the greatest football player of all time. He is also one of the most clutch players in today’s game. On the Eagles side is Nick Foles, who had an above average season a few years ago but has been mostly quiet ever since. He was looked down on and people did not believe that he could carry the Eagles to the Super Bowl. But he stepped up to the challenge in the playoffs and is earning his paycheck as the Eagles backup quarterback.

One key difference between these two teams is that the Patriots are no strangers to the big game. Belichick and Brady have no trouble playing under pressure. This was displayed in last year’s Super Bowl, when they were down 25 points and never got down on themselves. The Eagles ,on the other hand, don’t have as much experience in high pressure situations. Carson Wentz had an impressive season that was cut short due to injury. If the MVP candidate was playing in this game, then it would be a little different story.

This year’s Super Bowl should be very exciting and entertaining. If it’s not, then you can always turn on the puppy bowl.
